Tim Russert Dedicates Book to Maria

Maria's sister, Angie, recently met commentator Tim Russert at a private reception following his talk at Powell Symphony Hall in St. Louis as part of the Maryville University Speaker Series. The meeting was arranged by Maria's brother, Rick, who is Assistant Director of Public Affairs and Marketing at Maryville University in St. Louis.
Tim Russert happens to be one of Maria's favorites, so the plan was for her to attend the speech with Rick. Since the day of the speech was her first day of chemo and radiation treatments, however, Maria did not feel well enough to attend, so Angie went in Maria's place.
When Angie met Tim, she tearfully told him all about Maria's situation and he was incredibly nice and thoughtful, asking all about Maria, her kids and ages and names, as well as all about her cancer and treatment plan. Rick had brought along a copy of Tim Russert's new book, so Tim wrote a note to Maria in it and then suggested that Angie and he have their picture taken together.
Angie comments, "He may be sending special messages to me or Maria on his dry-erase board (that he has become famous for), during the election coverage, so watch for that on NBC and MSNBC!) He really does seem like such a nice guy and I felt privileged to meet him in Maria's honor."
